Telecaster Style

how much are you prepared to pay for a handbuild telecaster Style Electric guitar?
£150- £175
£176- £200
£201- £225
£226- £250
It would entirely depend upon the quality of the components and the construction of the guitar itself. It’s impossible to say without knowing and really, actually playing.
I mean, there’s a huge difference between a plywood body and some nice clear-finished ash or alder, for instance, and just as huge a difference between a hand-wound set of pickups and some DiMarzios or Seymour Duncans.
Considering that decent pickups alone are going to put 70-150$ (american) into the cost of the guitar (unless you can find them cheaper), you’re not going to be able to get much of a profit margin on it unless the guitar is *extremely* well made. Sure, getting some GFS pups would lower the cost, but if someone asks you what the pickups are they’re going to be turned off by the brand.
Are you experienced? Can you set a neck correctly? Are you building the neck yourself, or pre-ordering it? Will the guitar be absolutely 100% correctly intonated? What quality of components are you using, again – decent pickups, pots, wood, hardware?
Most people I know aren’t “telecaster” players, and wouldn’t be interested in buying one – but the few guitar collectors I know are rather picky and particular, and wouldn’t buy a home-made guitar unless it was very high quality.
