Why did they switch the super bowl from the last Sunday in January to the first in February?
9/11 Was the primary reason as the NFL ran into problems with scheduling conflicts at the SuperDome in New Orleans. Because of the attack the NFL did not play the following weekend. The League decided that in case there is ever a reason to postpone games again they need to have the extra week to play those games.
