James Hetfield

James Hetfield
What did James Hetfield go through when he blew his voice recording So What?

Has he ever said anything or had any interviews about it other than the short bit that was on Some Kind of Monster? Do you think he’ll ever be able to sing like pre-1993 again?

Well, I don’t know if there are any other interviews. But my opinion is that, regardless of whether he blew his voice or not, I doubt he will ever sing like pre-93 James. Mostly because voices change after 15+ years… ESPECIALLY in the rock genre with all the screaming/growling/yelling. Voices tend to get deeper.

As an example, Eddie Vedder’s (Pearl Jam) voice has gotten deeper over the years. Sure, he always had a fairly deep voice, but if you listen to a song off of Ten (1990) and compare it to a song of the self-titled album (2006), you can really tell the difference.

Regardless though, when musicians treat their vocal chords like that, that happens. Examples: Axl Rose and Chris Cornell.

Beer, Blood & Cornmeal: Seven Years of Strange Wrestling

Beer, Blood & Cornmeal: Seven Years of Strange Wrestling

$8.86

Delving into the organized insanity of Incredibly Strange Wrestling (ISW), this memoir takes a look at the bastard offspring of post-punk garage rock and masked Mexican wrestling. Fielding a cast of crazed characters with names like El Homo Loco, Macho Sasquatcho, and El Pollo Diablo, the show lived up to its name. And if that wasn”t enough, cult bands such as NOFX, The Dickies, and The Donnas provided the raucous rock and roll in between the highflying mayhem. ISW emerged from the back alleys and seedy clubs of San Francisco’’s South of Market scene to headline the historic Fillmore and barnstorm North America on the Van’’s Warped Tour. At the height of its popularity, Green Day’’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Metallica’’s James Hetfield could be seen tossing tortillas (which the promoters supplied) at ringside with the rest of the hell heads, boozehounds, and tattooed party girls.

EMG EMG-60 Humbucking Active Guitar Pickup Black

EMG EMG-60 Humbucking Active Guitar Pickup Black

$99

While the EMG-60 still features the close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets for the brightest attack of any of EMG’s many humbucking models, this pickup also packs plenty of output with both clarity and cut through high end. The EMG-60 is incredible for rhythm guitar as metal and extreme players have discovered. James Hetfield’s signature ESP models use EMG-60s because their distinctive crunch sets any rhythm player apart in the mix of a band that pumps a lot of mid-range from the stage. With a distinctive tone for soloing, the 60 works perfectly as a clear but fat lead pickup. The resonance slope is steeper but the peak is higher than other EMG models. The 60 is the result of a lot of input from different people. It is probably the most versatile humbucking pickup EMG makes, but doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.Package includes:EMG’s exclusive Quik-Connect cablePrewired split shaft volume/tone control setOutput jackBattery clip setScrews and springs
